Below is a linked pdf summary of activities for the third year of our Teaching American History project. Please print and get dates marked on your calendar early. This year we will host nine speaker seminars (five in the fall, four in the spring) and one multi-day summer institute in June. Each activity comes with compensation and a chance to work with colleagues, scholars, and community sites to enrich your understanding and teaching of American history.
Our year will kick off on Tuesday, September 9 with a seminar titled "Motivate and Inspire! Teaching with Primary Source Documents" led by Lee Ann Potter, Director of Education for the National Archives and Records Administration. In this workshop, participants will engage in document analysis activities related to a wide range of contemporary subjects, be alerted to the online resources of the National Archives, and be inspired by service learning projects that involve documents.
